"ONHELL" is a phonetic respelling of the Spanish pronunciation of angel and the first name of Los Angeles based composer, producer and DJ, Angel Rubio-Hale.
“I am stretched amongst noise, culture, and people.
I embrace duality, the light and the dark, the feminine and the masculine, the melody and the dissonance.
I am split, and it’s expressed in my music.
My sets build a bridge between worlds by merging together bass, rap, and experimentally anomalous music.
I like to create an atmosphere that broadens perspectives while also encouraging everyone to turn up and party.”
ONHELL’s releases on Plastician's Terrorhythm Recordings, Truth's Deep, Dark & Dangerous, and Fracture’s Astrophonica exhibit his range within the experimental bass music sphere.
Consistently exploring beyond the bounds of the prevalent, he skillfully integrates his influences and inspirations into compositions that are distinctly true to his originality.
His mix for Deep, Dark & Dangerous and his Shambhala 2018 Official Mix are exemplars of his DJ style. Like his mixes, every set is a diverse journey mostly comprised of his original music. Although no two songs are the same, all with varying bpms and rhythms, ONHELL melds it all masterfully. With his ever expanding, always fresh perspective he’s gifted at bringing out the best in a crowd and turning a show into a party.
He’s completed multiple US tours, including a tour with Plastician, and an international tour across Asia. He’s also played at many notable festivals including Outlook Festival 2017 and 2018, Shambhala 2018, Northern Nights 2018, Lollapalooza 2018 afterparty with Space Jesus, Raindance Campout 2018, Emissions Festival 2018, What the Festival 2017, and Symbiosis.
ONHELL is currently working on commercial sound design projects, his next EP for Terrorhythm and will soon release the second installment of his remixtape series on Dome of Doom.
