"ONHELL" is a phonetic respelling of the Spanish pronunciation of angel and the first name of Los Angeles based composer, producer and DJ, Angel Rubio-Hale.
“I feel stretched between lots of influences.
In my music, I embrace these contrasts, the light and the dark, the feminine and the masculine, the melody and the dissonance.
In my live sets, I enjoy building a bridge between different sounds by merging together bass, rap, and experimentally anomalous music.
That way, people experience an atmosphere that broadens perspectives while also encouraging everyone to turn up and party.”
ONHELL’s Remixtape Vol. II is his first release of 2019 to be followed with a vinyl release set to drop in April on Youngsta’s Sentry Records and a forthcoming EP for Plastician’s Terrorhythm Recordings. From late March - May ONHELL will be touring the United States with Thelem on their Parallels Tour.
Releases on Plastician's Terrorhythm Recordings, Truth's Deep, Dark & Dangerous, and Fracture’s Astrophonica exhibit ONHELL’s range within the experimental bass music sphere.
ONHELL’s mix for Deep, Dark & Dangerous and his Shambhala 2018 Official Mix are exemplars of his DJ style. Like his mixes, every set is a diverse journey mostly comprised of all original music. Though no two songs are the same, all with varying bpms and rhythms, ONHELL melds it all masterfully.
He’s completed multiple US tours with the likes of Plastician, and an international tour across Asia. He’s also played at many notable festivals including Outlook Festival 2017 and 2018, Shambhala 2018, Northern Nights 2018, Lollapalooza 2018 afterparty with Space Jesus, Raindance Campout 2018, Emissions Festival 2018, What the Festival 2017, and Symbiosis 2016.
